One more spin around the sun….

The day has passed and this person has made one more journey around the sun. Which in this case means that the birthday passed on 9/1 and yeppers I am now one year older. 51 to be exact. Yes, I know somewhat scary….in that to some if one’s circle of friends are much younger than I, it is considered odd. Then again too this age does not mean what it used to, thank goodness. Nor am I ready for ‘God’s Waiting Room’ yet either.

As for the birthday, it was quiet. The cats and I did not really do anything out of the ordinary, outside of testing out a new set of speakers that I purchased for the main PC. Not that am knocking the speakers for the Dell Dimension 4700, but the sound response is a bit ‘tinny’. Put another way, those OEM speakers were no different than the cheaper headsets that are sold with 3rd or 4th line portable audio devices. Hence, loud music is distorted, orchestral parts sound thin and the vocals can sound constrained. Even with the really good soundcard that is on that PC [Creative Soundblaster Audigy], the speakers seem not to live up to the sound that was being sent over. As things have it this week, Office Depot had a speaker/subwoofer set on sale, so that was bought [along with a new vacuum over at the Kroger…have to make this home somewhat presentable *S*] and the end result….well it is a marked, extreme improvement. When writing to my crush about this after I installed them, it was like sitting 7th row orchestra in any good music hall for a rock concert [my personal reference point for this is the Palladium in NYC, where I saw Renaissance on their ‘Camera Camera’ and ‘Time-Line’ tours]. The orchestra on a test song…that being Ren’s ‘Can You Hear Me Call’ from Novella came across like they were in the apartment with the cats and I. Of course the subwoofer did its job with the bass rocking the floor.

About rheapdx1

Just another geekette from the Pacific Northwest. Windows computer tech, as well as the mom to 2 cats. My blog is more or less about life; the adventures in fixing PC's, the trips to the doctors....otherwise known as my 'gang of five who keep me alive', the cats...and thoughts about a particular person who I am deeply smitten with [if the person only knew how deep that goes *S*]. Otherwise, this is ordinary.
