The latest oilchange with Dr Nick was……

Yeppers…..today was that followup that was mentioned on the last posting with Dr Nick.  Which in itself got off to a somewhat fateful start due to our bus and light rail provider being slow again. Yes I know, there was a schedule change put into effect at the beginning of the month, but even so this was a tad on the insane side. Good news that the walk between the two…while long was not as painful as it could have been. Thank goodness for insoles from Target and artificial Tylenol from Freddy Kroger.

In any event, the visit did start with a little good news [which was helped by the fact that I am slowly becoming the ‘Norm Peterson’ of the Providence Gateway Clinic patients…everybody knows my name. That and they know my cat’s names *S*] which was the diet still works and …AND the BP is down. Not the standard ‘white coat’ blood pressure, but it is now heading back down to normal.  It was then we got to the heart [pardon the pun] of the matter….

Dr. Nick gave me copies of the lab reports and it has come down to the following:

-The creatinine numbers are slightly up. Slightly being/meaning from 2.06 to 2.10. For some this may be bad news, but here even with an adjusted set of numbers as far as the filtration rate [30] this is pretty darn good. When other factors are placed into the mix…it is darn good. So we do not have to deal with the ‘D’ word for a while.

– While these are slightly up as well….the cholesterol numbers are not where they should be. Meaning for the LDL……good news was…the HDL was up so that was the counterbalance was there. Good thing too because while Pizza Hut is on speed dial, they have not been called in so long, I have forgotten what the Chicken Supreme Pizza tastes like, as well as there being no where near any of the other purveors of fast food nearby.

-Vitamin D is back where is should be….or going back up that way. So the little 5 week experiment with a very high dosage of the ‘sunshine vitamin’ has helped. And the other chemicals/elements/minerals are where they should be within the +/- ranges….

To say the least, this was a good visit and as I had mentioned to my crush before, a good example of being in the right place at the right time for the multiple issues to be treated by the right physicians. After all…when you find out one of the docs was your ‘neighbor’ by virtue of him going to school at the University of Iowa and you having lived in Minnesota or that one of his associates is as big a fan of Yes as you are or that your arth doc also has a license to practice law and gave some advice on how to deal with the SSA…one can say they are in pretty damn good hands. They are making sure that I stay alive….and my cats, in particular my oldest Rachel keep me sane here. This in addition to her making sure the emails to the crush do go out each night. Amazing….she wants me to be with one human…..someone she likes and anyone who has met Rachel the Momcat [as opposed to Margie the Momcat who was here before, but that is another story for another time]

Now you have a thumbnail sketch of what went on today. Of course there will be others before the next oilchange is due, which is in six weeks. By then I think the Chiefs and Chargers will have winning records. They had better or it will be a long winter here with Rae and Marty.

And til later on, enjoy the colourcast as the pics fly through the air…

Just another geekette from the Pacific Northwest. Windows computer tech, as well as the mom to 2 cats. My blog is more or less about life; the adventures in fixing PC's, the trips to the doctors....otherwise known as my 'gang of five who keep me alive', the cats...and thoughts about a particular person who I am deeply smitten with [if the person only knew how deep that goes *S*]. Otherwise, this is ordinary.
