Of errand runs, a Gump-like dress & the Snowtorious B.I.G.

Outside it is raining, turning colder by the hour and snow is in the air. And that means it is time for ‘Crazy Eddie’s’ 4th of July….ooops wrong script. Anyhow…the errand run from last night was an ok one, even though  there was a full moon out.  But there were no weirdoes on the Springer….I mean the 72. This was one of the few times when the ride itself was actually ‘sedate’. Which in itself makes sense…seeing that it was the kind of evening that it was…

For one, I was able to get some pics done of that aforementioned dress. To begin with, yes it fits…..but I was swimming in it. My problem was in not reading the sizing properly at the time. Yes it was a size 10 petite but this was women’s, without a tiedown or tieback…which would have been nice. However looking for that in the Goodwill bin would be akin to Diogenes looking for an honest person in Washington, D.C.  But the pictures were taken and as you can see here

This is the dress and yes, I know...it is not all white but worth it considering the price.

it does have those flowers. I know the hair is a little wilder than one would expect from yours truly….but after all this is part of a little something else I am saving for that certain someone. Now if I can find a way so that this does not look as though I am being immersered in same, vis a vis wearing it…I would be happy.

Back to the errand run again. It was split bet the Dollar Store and good old Freddy Kroger. Even the Kroger was sane…which for a Friday night is not just rare, it is unheard of.  That is not a knock on the employees of same…many of whom are part of that extended family the cats and I have….very far from it. But like with other markets I have been to before a weekend starts, when there is a waiting line for beer and other spirits…you know things are going to get a little bit on the strange side. Then again too, I should have known that the edge was removed from this due to TBS airing ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’…meaning that with one main malevolent soul taken care of, the night could go along as per usual .

Which leads into where the last part of the title of this post comes in. Unless one lives in a cave near the Cascade Mountain Range and only comes out for a shower or to see their shadow….everyone in this region knows we are due for a storm. The first major one of the season, where the freezing levels will drop and if the winds off the Columbia River Gorge are as vicious as they could be, this can get worse at the valley floor level. Which as things have it, is where good old Portland is located. [This is also one of the reasons why we are cursed in the summer during those two weeks of 100 degree temps which do not move one iota due to an inversion] As for where the moniker ‘Snowtorious B.I.G.’ comes from, I give credit on that to the folks at http://www/kgw.com , our local NBC station who coined this during the massive storm from a couple years back. Oh before it is said, I am not really a fan of rap….with the exception of the early stuff by Run-D.M.C., unless the circumstance strikes me as really odd or funny [like Snowtorious….], my fave rap is the midsection of a song by Rush called ‘Roll The Bones’.  For no other reason than the fact it is a logical rap….from the mind of Neal Peart. In case you are wondering what I mean, here are the words of that rap:

Get busy with the facts
No zodiacs or almanacs
No maniacs in polyester slacks
Just the facts
Gonna kick some gluteus max
It’s a parallax…you dig?
You move around
The small gets big
It’s a rig
It’s action…reaction
Random interaction
So who’s afraid
Of a little abstraction?
Can’t get no satisfaction
From the facts?
You better run, homeboy
A fact’s a fact
From Nome to Rome, boy

What’s the deal?
Spin the wheel
If the dice are hot…take a shot
Play your cards. Show us what you got
What you’re holding
If the cards are cold
Don’t go folding
Lady Luck is golden
She favors the bold
That’s cold
Stop throwing stones
The night has a thousand saxophones
So get out there and rock
And roll the bones
Get busy!

Pretty neat, ain’t it?????

So now it is back to the usual things around here. Here is hoping at some point I will have a valid reason to wear that Forrest Gump dress…and I am willing to wait. After all, any person who thinks that life is about putting notches on the bedpost or would assume I think along those lines is sadly mistaken.

With that said…til next time….from the colortini…enjoy the colourcast as the words and the pics fly through the air.
