If you have been reading this blog, you know that on one that was baseball-related, I included the poem titled ‘Game Called’ which is about a rainout of a game and the sadness of the fans for same. Well we had something like that here…the work is on its way but did not arrive for the weekend. Which is due I guess to the auspices of the wonderful folks [not] at the postal service. I am a tad dissappointed because I had the tea, cranberry/club soda and powerade IV’s at the ready along with makings for turkey wraps *S* All of that along with the music to run in the background from: Renaissance, The Moody Blues, Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, Charlie Parker, The Modern Jazz Quartet and Pat Metheny. Eclectic for sure, plus the cats like them as well *S* [I know, I have raised them right!!!] But it looks as though this will just be delayed, called for another 2 days.
Not that I am angry….far from it. Things happen. The nature of business as it is in this day and age. Getting upset and redlining the blood pressure would not have helped worth a darn. The good news in this has to do with the fact that the machines are ready. The laptop will be all of the code will be written, spellchecked and other items. Afterwards, the visage of same will be checked on the laptop, as well as the main PC which has the 19″ flatscreen monitor. This will give me an idea how this will work with those who are hardcore geeks and geekettes whose systems have killer screens and video cards. Once those are in synch and look the way they should, the site info along with it’s flash drive will be sent back to the client. Then it will be a matter of doing the updating of same remotely….which will be dependent on how reliable the wireless connection here is. The quality of it can remind one of one of John Glenn’s quotes ‘never trust the low bidder on a government contract’, in this case it was the 5th rate service provider in a 3 provider part of town.
Also something else has happened over the past few days which restored my faith in parts of humanity and also puts into a rather sad perspective why other parts are shunned and looked at with derision. On the former, the friends I now have online, as well as those who I am close to otherwise are really sharp folks. They put a smile on the face, make me laugh…but mostly…I can be me with them. No need to justify one’s existence because they are like ‘we are down with it, so what do we have in common?’ There are several I love like they were part of the family…a happy, functional family…I see them on a daily basis and that makes the day or evening.
On the latter however, I am still rather dissappointed in how those in the same gender group that I am in are still incredibly short-sighted. With a few exceptions, meaning folks who do not act in that way….there are levels of bigotry and stereotyping which would make Archie Bunker [look up the television program ‘All in the Family’ for what the name means] blush. Remarks about women, different races and religion which show a lack of maturity, as well as a twisted sense of entitlement and disconnects to the world. Put another way, if a politician were to make these remarks [and some have] there would be calls for the person in question to be censured. But if one is from the alphabet soup of gender and other items, such missives are practically condoned, rarely is someone called out for it. Not that I am asking for someone to be given a discussion a la Tommy D from ‘GoodFellas’, but there is a need to expain to others that if one is asking for respect from others, they need to show it to others. It is that simple, not rocket science.
But back to the positive. One of the people I talk to this afternoon posted something in Twitter that was so beautiful that it needs to be repeated. And this was sent over to my crush…
‘……..love is meaningless without you…….’
Amazing, isn’t it??? Simple, sweet logical…..and it is true. Without the right person, the feeling of love just is a little on the empty vessel side. And it goes hand in hand with another statement that came from another Twitter family member:
‘Be unique….be different and shine’
If only because the individual is who makes the world of difference. And love is best when one falls for the person, not the stereotype. **** knows that is where the heart here is coming from and I make sure that is said every chance I get.
So that is all the news for now. Hopefully the work will arrive tomorrow and then it is time to hibernate whilst typing away code. And as is the custom from here….from the land of the colourtini…enjoy the pics as the words fly through the air.
