In this place, rocking Chiefs Red and work, but hoping the world has not gone nuts.

Let’s get the good news from this desk out of the way first. Well..a couple bits of good news out of thw way first. For one….the diet still works and I wanted to do so in the red because Rae’s fave team was going to be on national television this week for their first preseason game. Marty’s was on this week as well and on this site, I do have pics with the Powder Blue color of her San Diego [Super] Chargers [yes that one owes itself to a fight song from the Charger glory days of ‘Air Coryell’]. And gee I thought this would help…that and the fact that Rae was psyched to watch the game. Well sadly, like the Chargers did the night before [as you read this, these two played on consecutive evenings] the Chiefs lost this evening to the Pirates of Pewter Pants, I mean the Buccaneers. Just marvy, due to the fact they were shut out 25-0. Oh well, there is always next week.

There was some good news work wise on this end. A marathon of paperwork input actually paid off in getting a major portion of the site closer to its denoument. Once this is over with…then the rest of the site will be easy to put together…plus while the overall decision as to who will be the host is made, I can tweak its settings, metatags etc so that when the first month of orders come in, there is a minimum of problems in that portion of the process. And seeing this is a group effort, as in the kitties are riding shotgun and supervising we are sharing in the good news when the client emails back or calls in and says they are floored by the quality of the site. Yes,call that the bigtime WOW factor.

The good news on this end was tempered by the fact that the outside world on two accords seems to have gone completely insane. Firstly, the riots in the UK were a shock for several reasons, not the least of which that what happened during them mirrored what has happened here in the US…be it during the summer 1977 blackout in NYC or the riots after the Rodney King case in Los Angeles. As in the needless, thoughtless looting and blatant incidences of incivility. If you are wondering why I am concerned over this, it has to do with 2 factors…

– the person I am deeply and still smitten with lives in the UK

and

– a great many of my online friends…..yes the aunts and uncles to my kitties live there as well.

I will not say anything about where my crush calls home there due to respecting her privacy on this, but when I heard the riots had hit that town, there was that feeling in the pit of the stomach. As in hoping for the most obvious of reasons that she is safe, but also that where she works was not hit. The looters in their bachanalic spree of illegal madness and mayhem had attacked stores great and small for items such as sneakers, TV’s and other ‘necessities’.  No different than in our periods of same here….but here is where the issue took on a turn that while completely understandable, left a cause for concern. That being the official response, as well as the talking head analytical one which used the term ‘certain demographics which were involved in the looting’. To some who had the misfortune to have been raised in the 60’s and 70’s, we know this is ‘newspeak’ for those who are either poor or were previously disenfranchised due to ethnicity. And usually the response to such disturbances means that there is not just an increased police presence, but that employers rethink their decisions about who to bring on as workers or even advertise to. Reactionary and myopic, yes….but it is done as a matter of practice here on these shores, hence the fear this has been exported to the UK. Regretbly, some of the attitudes of those who were interviewed who had claimed participation in same sounded no different than those who do same on these shores, hence it is safe to say that some things do migrate over the seas. It is the hope here that it does come back to some level of sanity….

Another item which has caused me to question the overall logic of humans is the famine in Somalia which has spread to the Sudan and Kenya. While this planet has seen this before, in the current case how it came about speaks more to cruelty, facisism and terrorism, as well as poor and incompetent planning on the parts of the goverments involved. It never has, nor will it ever make any sense as to why genocide is concisdered an acceptable means of government, let alone diplomacy. To quote a line from ‘Network’….’This is mass madness, you maniacs!!!!!’ And it needs to stop. Humantarian agencies are doing their best to do so, but it is up to those who are there to not feel as though rule by fear and starvation is an acceptable means of governance for any province, state or country.

Ok I am off the soapbox…..just hoping maybe the venting from here and from other corners will do some good…..and til next time….

From the land of the colourtini…..enjoy [and think about the words, especially those for a certain party] as the pictures fly through the air.

Just another geekette from the Pacific Northwest. Windows computer tech, as well as the mom to 2 cats. My blog is more or less about life; the adventures in fixing PC's, the trips to the doctors....otherwise known as my 'gang of five who keep me alive', the cats...and thoughts about a particular person who I am deeply smitten with [if the person only knew how deep that goes *S*]. Otherwise, this is ordinary.
