Even with age, sometimes it pays to be lucky than good….

I know…some are looking at the title of this post and are wondering ‘what in the Sam Hill is this person talking about?’ Well it has to do with the fact that even though time has marched on, that there is still a little constant in this life. That being that on occassion, luck does play a role. [Much like it did with the Green Bay Packers this ..being Thursday evening…who won the season opener with one hell of a defensive stand on the last play of the game v. the New Orleans Saints…hence the pic with the green top]. I will explain…

Yesterday I had my annual wire-frying, which is to say it was an eye exam. This one had to be done because of a little problem off and on with floaters and lines in the field of vision, something that does happen with age, but can also cause problems if one is let’s say doing detailed work or trying to kill insects. What amazed me is that, compared with some o the horror stories out there…there was no problem. No pronoun trouble as it were….we just ran the facts down. Granted, the doc may have been in a rush because he apparently was scheduled for duty at another location of the same practice fot the afternoon but the exam was thorough. Plus my wires were fixed and dialated so that he could check to see if any of there was a massive increase in the number of floaters etc. Apparently, there was no such thing…the surgery that had been done also seems to have held, after close to 30 years. It was cryro…the intent of which was to via a frozen probe to stop the bleeding in the back of the eye and lo and behold, it held. YAY….but even better was the lucky part:I got my new script for coloured contacts. Initially, the state health plan did not cover the cost of an exam along those lines…but seeing this was one of those ‘while we are at it’ situations, why not.

The rest of the day was uneventful outside of a standard food run…and that was fun because it was like ‘old home week’m running into folks who I have not seen in a while, who are also members of TheRoyalBadnesses fan club *S*. As being lucky enough to get what was/is needed to survive the next few days of our mini heatwave…or as we like to call it here…..summer.  There seems to be less of a worry about who looks like what per se and more of concern about if this mini-kiln here in the valley will be over by the weekend.

This and other little items recently have made it clear that if one were to navigate through the world looking for the common terms there is a lot to be accomplished. As I had mentioned to the crush before about dealing with the docs, because of the current conditions….it is less of a big deal as to the transition issue and more about the medical problems at the time. I know this runs counter to the mantra and modus operandi of the TG community….but there is something to just dealing with for example medical professionals like any other patient would, not as ‘blatantly special case’ . After all, unless said doctor had studied and started his or her practice on the rocks that surround Barnard’s Star, it is likely they have run into those who have transitioned before. Plus if they are not a part of the cadre that will readily give out the HRT like a PEZ dispenser, they will be honest about what the body can and cannot handle. This is not to say that all  those who specialize in TG issues are of that ilk, far from it and let that point be clear. BUT on the other hand…some out there operate no better than the pain relief pill mills that the federal government had busted on the east coast. Again the case can be made on the issues here of having gotten lucky to be in the right hands….yes…the ‘gang of 5 that keep me alive’.

The main hope now is for the luck of that day to transfer over to other things. Currently the work client is working on the next inventory set….and that will be sent down soon enough [again I have mentioned to the crush that I can farm out the work to her so that it would be a joint project…and she would get a cut of my pay in this…as was stated on this site before, I want to see her get her programming chops in order because she has them and the potential for more is there]. Plus I hope that the stars and signs point to the crush and I getting together at some point.  I was thinking about that again when PBS aired a program about Simon and Garfunkle, with the lead song being ‘America’…and it is the Renaissance version of that I would love to play for her…with that famous opening line.. That good luck is working now is something that I hope does continue and flourish….

And that is all for this dispatch…outside of this: it goes without saying the best bit of fortune I have had and have really been blessed in same are the friends I do have. The ones who talk about a wide scope of things, as well as have a connection to the way the world does work.Plus they understand that I do have a hopeless romantic streak, as well as why I have unrequited love for my crush. So with that…..from the land of the colourtini, enjoy the words as the pics fly through the air.

About rheapdx1

Just another geekette from the Pacific Northwest. Windows computer tech, as well as the mom to 2 cats. My blog is more or less about life; the adventures in fixing PC's, the trips to the doctors....otherwise known as my 'gang of five who keep me alive', the cats...and thoughts about a particular person who I am deeply smitten with [if the person only knew how deep that goes *S*]. Otherwise, this is ordinary.
